A bit about the name, little lodestar . . .
1 archaic : a star that leads or guides; especially : north star
2 : one that serves as an inspiration, model, or guide
Undoubtedly, since she was born, M has been my inspiration and model of how to live life better. Beyond adding a new dimension to my life, she serves as my north star and forces me to decide, or at least confirm, where I stand on so many issues, but more importantly why.
Now that she’s starting to understand more about the world around our family, I feel compelled to have reasoned explanations for the life lessons that we will try to teach her, or at least the ability to be honest with her and admit that I don’t always have all the answers. Through her daily interactions with the world around her and the endless questions she poses, I want to re-examine the big issues and the daily minutiae that we all face as humans, every day.
She is my little lodestar.
